Authentic Human-Robot Relationships?
🤝 What does it mean to have an authentic relationship?
👩❤️👨 Can humans and robots have “real” intimacy and shared experiences?
🔗 Do these “artificial” bonds contribute to a good life?
Social robots are robotic agents designed to communicate and interact with humans by following expected social behaviors. They naturally use verbal and non-verbal cues, often portraying distinct personalities that people liken to fictional characters. Despite knowing these robots are machines, many people emotionally engage with them, building relationships as if they were living beings.
Join us online or in-person to explore the boundaries of trust, emotions, and well-being between humans and social robots. Our panel of experts will guide us through the nuances of affective computing and social robotics, to challenge stereotypical narratives and spark new ideas.
We've included a few sign-up questions to ensure a mix of perspectives, and we'll use pol(dot)is to spark inclusive debates that continue during and after the event, wherever you join from. This will be fun!
Panel Speakers:
Ray LC from Studio for Narrative Spaces.
Giovanni Lion from Avantgardist Institut. Previously at PolyU Design and Hanson Robotics
