About Event

What to expect ✊💚

Serbia’s student movement and recent elections are all over the news right now. Join us for this discussion with Aleksandar Matković to find out not just how this movement started and spread throughout society, but also on what is not shown by Western media.

Serbia’s students rose up. What can we learn from them? How did a student protest turn into a national uprising? How did the Serbians mobilise a national movement across the political spectrum? And how might this transfer into a different kind of governing practice?

Join us in a lively discussion about the current wave of mobilisation and protests throughout the world and what we can learn from Serbia’s case to stop fascism and corruption, not just in politics but also in society.

Bring your questions or just come to listen and get inspired on how to mobilise against all odds!

Aleksandar Matković is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology in Barcelona and a fellow at the Transnational Institute in Amsterdam. He works on environmental history, political economy and the history of Yugoslavia.

🗣️ This event will be held in English.

About this community 📣💚

For rights, against wrongs. We clamour for universal human and environmental rights — and a peaceful, sustainable future for all!

CLAMOUR is a growing community of people who feel that the current system isn’t working and who want to imagine, discuss, and build something better together.

In a world shaped by rising fascism, climate collapse, and growing inequality, many of us feel overwhelmed or powerless. CLAMOUR exists to create space for something different. A space to come together, to learn, listen, share, reflect and organise. We believe that change starts from the roots and that community itself is a form of resistance. ✊

Our community spans generations and backgrounds. Our youngest member is 18, our oldest is 93. We come from many nationalities and cultures, and from a wide range of professional paths including students, journalists, teachers, architects, activists, entrepreneurs, and retirees. This diversity is at the heart of CLAMOUR.

We welcome anyone who feels concerned, curious, exhausted, hopeful or simply wants to connect with others who care about a more just and sustainable future. You don’t need to have answers. You just need to show up as you are.

Join us in making noise. 📣
