Manhattan Summer Streets

​This is a 6-mile walk from FiDi to the UES on the last weekend of Manhattan Summer Streets--where pedestrians and bikes take over Park Ave. I'm extra excited about this one for 2 reasons:

​1.) Park Ave is beautiful on the reg and IDEAL walking territory when you take out all the cars.

​2.) Lower Manhattan shines early in the morning. Everyone should at some point experience FiDi on a weekend before 8am - it seriously feels like being in a video game when there are no crowds to dodge, and it's just you and the oldest streets in the city.

​Yes, it's early. No I probably won't get enough sleep Friday night to make this happen. But how lucky are we to live in a city that shuts down MILES of a beautiful, major thoroughfare ~for funsies~ to celebrate summer? It'd be silly to sleep in and miss it.

​We'll meet at Bagel Market on Wall Street (all good walks start with carbs) and roll at 8:15am to avoid most of the heat and crowds.

​Note: I'll be leading the front at "New York pedestrian pace" (a brisk walk). But all are welcome, and this is a great route to spread out if you'd like a slower stroll (after the first 10 minutes, we're on the same street the whole way).

​Come alone or with a friend, ready to walk, chat, and take in the beauty of Summer Streets. We'll end at E. 86th St. (near the 4/5/6 and Q subway stops)
