San Francisco Good Neighbor Week

​Join your neighbors, the City of San Francisco, and hundreds of city-wide and neighborhood partners to celebrate San Francisco Good Neighbor Week across our city’s wonderful neighborhoods. This holiday celebrates everyday residents who bring connection, kindness and community to San Francisco.

​September 28 is National Good Neighbor Day. President Jimmy Carter first proclaimed the day in 1978. Cities and states across the USA celebrate National Good Neighbor Day. 2025 was our first year officially celebrating the holiday in San Francisco.

​We organize the celebration into five tracks: making it official, Good Neighbor Awards, neighborhood events, resources for (aspiring) block leaders, and Technology & Innovation.

​We focus on service across all five tracks, including reaching our socially isolated neighbors. In San Francisco, the most socially isolated group is seniors living alone.
