About Event

​The Art of Grieving is a monthly workshop series exploring grief, loss, death, remembrance, and the many ways we experience and move through life’s transitions.

​Hosted by Melissa Philippe, Traditional Birth and Death Midwife, Deathkeeper, and Holistic Wellness Educator, these workshops provide accessible, culturally grounded education and practical guidance for individuals and families navigating grief and loss.

​Each session focuses on a specific aspect of grief and provides tools, resources, reflection, and real-world guidance to help you understand your experience, support others, and honour what has been lost.

​Topics may include:

  • ​Understanding grief and the many forms it can take

  • ​Preparing for death and dying

  • ​Supporting someone who is dying

  • ​Grieving the death of a loved one

  • ​Pregnancy and infant loss

  • ​Abortion and reproductive loss

  • ​Grief after the death of a child

  • ​Grieving the loss of an animal or beloved pet

  • ​Anticipatory grief

  • ​Complicated and disenfranchised grief

  • ​Cultural approaches to death and mourning

  • ​Ancestral grief and remembrance

  • ​Creating meaningful ceremonies and memorial practices

  • ​Writing eulogies and telling the story of a life

  • ​Home and community-based death care

  • ​Burial, cremation, and other end-of-life options

  • ​Supporting children through grief

  • ​Grief within families and communities

  • ​Grief, identity, and major life transitions

  • ​Continuing bonds and remembering those who have died

  • ​Caring for yourself while grieving

  • ​Supporting someone through their grieving process

​Whether you are experiencing a recent loss, preparing for an expected death, supporting someone who is grieving, or seeking a deeper understanding of death and remembrance, these workshops create space for education, reflection, conversation, and practical support.
