Join Electromate on Thursday, May 14, 2026 for a Lunch & Learn led by Dr. Urs Kafader focused on multi-axis systems and robotics.

The seminar covers synchronization in multi-axis systems, robotic application challenges, maxon robotic joints, integrated drives, and functional safety.

What Will You Learn?

This session is built to give attendees a clearer understanding of synchronization levels in multi-axis systems and the communication impact behind them.

It also covers the challenges of robotic applications, how the maxon High-Efficiency-Joint fits into those systems, and where maxon’s product portfolio supports robotics development.

Speaker Information

Dr. Urs Kafader is a specialist in motion control and robotic system design, with a focus on multi-axis architectures, integrated drive systems, and robotic joint technologies. His work centers on how motor, gearbox, encoder, and control elements interact within compact, high-performance systems, with particular emphasis on synchronization, communication, and system-level efficiency.

Through his role in developing and supporting maxon’s robotics solutions, he brings practical insight into the design challenges and trade-offs involved in building reliable, integrated motion systems for advanced automation applications.

Seminar Agenda

The day begins with an introduction from 9:30 to 9:45, followed by a session on multi-axis system architecture and the challenges of robotics from 9:45 to 10:45. After a coffee break, the morning continues with components for robotic joints, including DT frameless motors, strain wave vs. planetary gears, encoders, and EPOS controllers from 11:00 to 12:00.

After lunch, the afternoon session covers maxon robotic joints and integrated drives, including what is in them and the product concept behind them, from 12:45 to 13:45. The final technical session covers functional safety and maxon’s offering from 14:00 to 14:30, followed by Q&A and a wrap-up.

Who Should Attend?

This event is relevant for engineers and technical professionals working with robotics, multi-axis motion control, robotic joint design, integrated drives, and safety-related system design.

The agenda is especially relevant for teams evaluating frameless motors, gear technologies, encoders, and servo control architectures in robotic systems. This targeting is based on the listed session topics in the seminar agenda.
