About Event

You already know how to support a textbook labour. This workshop is for the ones that aren't.

The posterior baby that won't rotate. The asynclitic head. The labour that stalls for reasons no one can quite name. The mother who's exhausted and the clock that keeps ticking.

Most birth professionals are trained in what to recognise — far less in what to do with the mother's body in the next ten minutes.

That gap is what Optimal Maternal Positioning™ (OMP) was created to address.

OMP explores maternal alignment, pelvic mobility and fetal positioning to create space for the baby to complete the cardinal movements of birth — helping professionals understand not simply which position to suggest, but when, why and for which level of the pelvis.

OMP LIVE — ADELAIDE

📅 Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 November 2026
🕣 8:30am–4:30pm
📍 Location: Australian Chiropractic College. Level 2, 101 Grenfell Street, Adelaide 5000
💰 AU$888 for 2 days | AU$450 for 1 day

TWO WAYS TO EXPERIENCE OMP

COMPLETE 2-DAY OMP FOR PROFESSIONALS — AU$888

Our recommended pathway for midwives, doulas and other professionals who attend births.

DAY 1: OMP FOUNDATIONS — AU$450

Day 1 may now be attended as a standalone workshop, particularly for chiropractors, physiotherapists, osteopaths, massage therapists, exercise and movement professionals, and others working with pregnant women who may not attend births.

DAY 1 — OMP FOUNDATIONS

Explore:

  • Maternal alignment and pelvic mobility

  • Fetal positioning and the cardinal movements of birth

  • Understanding and deconstructing common maternal positions

  • Creating space at different levels of the pelvis

  • Alignment before mobility

  • Practical OMP techniques to use with pregnant clients

DAY 2 — PRACTICE & INTEGRATION

For professionals attending births, Day 2 takes the foundations into practical application.

Explore how OMP can be applied when working with:

  • Posterior babies

  • Asynclitism

  • Transverse positions

  • Slow or stalled labour

  • Rotation and descent

  • Labour that simply isn't behaving like the textbook

You'll practise OMP techniques using tools including the rebozo, peanut ball, swim rings and birth rope, while developing the decision-making framework to understand what to use, when and why.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Midwives & student midwives • Birth doulas • Childbirth educators • Obstetricians • Maternity physiotherapists • Chiropractors • Osteopaths • Massage therapists • Exercise & movement professionals • Other professionals working in pregnancy and birth

No previous OMP experience is required.

RETURNING OMP PARTICIPANTS

We'd love to welcome you back. Special alumni pricing is available, including an option for participants who previously completed Day 1 and would now like to experience Day 2 — Practice & Integration.
