Save the Date: The Edge Dialogues
This is not your normal Tech Policy conversation.
The Privacy Center at Georgetown Law and Tech Policy Press are launching “The Edge Dialogues” on October 22.
This bimonthly webinar series will explore the fundamental tech policy questions that we are often told we have no right to ask and understand why so many years of conversations haven’t led to laws and policies that actually keep tech companies in check. We don’t want to talk about “AI governance”; we want to talk about power, labor, war, justice, privacy, art, community, and the problem of human consciousness (for starters!).
The kickoff event will feature remarks from special guest Dr. Alondra Nelson, Harold F. Linder Chair at the Institute for Advanced Study.
About our speaker:
Dr. Alondra Nelson's research offers a critical and innovative approach to the social sciences, in sustained dialogue with other disciplines. Her major scholarly contributions lie at the intersection of racial formation and social citizenship, on the one hand, and emerging scientific and technological phenomena, on the other. Across this work she argues that science and technology are constituted through institutional choices rather than acting on society from the outside, and are therefore explicable by social science and answerable to public authority.
