Something has been taking shape at 8 Bank Place.
For too long, the mass timber conversation in Australia has happened in fragments. Architects making structural decisions without the right engineering input. Engineers solving connection details in isolation. Suppliers presenting products to rooms full of people who aren't the ones building. Nobody in the same room at the same time.
Mass Timber Central was built to fix that.
On 30 April, we're opening the doors for the first time, and we want the people who design, specify, engineer, and build with timber to be the first ones through them.
What is Mass Timber Central?
Mass Timber Central is Australia's first dedicated mass timber collaboration hub, operated by Vistek Structural Engineers at Ground Floor, 8 Bank Place, Melbourne CBD. It brings together the full mass timber ecosystem under one roof — not as a showroom, but as a working space where real problems get solved.
The space features live displays and technical resources across:
— Cross-laminated timber (CLT) systems
— Glulam structural systems
— Structural connection technologies (Rothoblaas, Spax, Eurotec)
— Acoustic performance solutions
— Moisture protection and building envelope technologies
— Fire protection systems
Australia's leading mass timber suppliers are represented on the floor, and the people who know the products best will be in the room.
What to expect on the night
This is an industry launch,not a product expo. Expect an informal evening with drinks and food, a brief introduction to the space from Vistek Director Robert Svars, open access to the full floor, and the chance to have genuine technical conversations with the engineers, suppliers, and specialists who built this.
It's the kind of event that's most useful if you're actively working with mass timber, or planning to be.
Who should attend
This event is for practitioners in the built environment who work with, specify, or have a professional interest in mass timber. That includes architects, structural engineers, builders and contractors, developers, building surveyors, and project managers working on timber-framed or hybrid structural projects.
Places are limited. We've kept the guest list deliberately small so the conversations stay meaningful.
