State of Community Organising 2026
Being part of a community is more popular than ever. Nowadays, there are more ways to belong to one than ever, and arguably more communities, too.
That leaves us with one question: What makes a community in 2026?
notanother.pizza and Burn as Prescribed are inviting community organisers to help us build a communal definition (ba dum tss 🥁). “Community” is used in many different contexts, so understanding what it means to the people who actually do the work of bringing communities together gives us a starting point for learning from each other’s strategies and experiences.
Join us for an evening at Newspeak House where organisers will share their experiences in response to the question: “What makes a community in 2026?” Tell us what makes a community to you: the exchanges, the commitments, the shared experiences, and more. Then tell us how those show up in the communities you run and belong to, and how they shape both your favourite and most challenging parts of organising.
Want to contribute? Tick “I’d like to contribute” when you register. Then email one slide to hugh.evans.dev@gmail.com with the subject line “State of community” by 6pm on Saturday 28 November (48 hours before the event).
Contributors get five minutes to share, then can grab a drink and network with other organisers.
