The Build Gap: A Forum on BC’s Workforce Future
BC is building faster than it’s training.
The province’s growth agenda is among the most ambitious in Canada. It spans major projects, clean energy, critical minerals, AI and advanced technology, and a generation of infrastructure investment. Every one of those priorities depends on the same thing: enough skilled people, in the right places, ready at the right time. The gap between what BC plans to build and who will build it is fast becoming the defining economic question of the decade.
The Build Gap is an evening for the people who will close that gap. Vancouver Tech Journal and FutureFit AI are bringing together 50 leaders from government, industry, and the workforce ecosystem for an honest conversation, over drinks, about whether BC’s talent pipeline can keep pace with its ambitions.
There’s no panel and no podium. The Build Gap is a curated mixer designed for the conversations that rarely happen across sectors: where employers are already feeling talent constraints, whether training pathways line up with where growth is happening, and where economic strategy and workforce capacity are drifting apart.
Who’s in the room
Provincial leaders shaping BC’s economic, post-secondary, skills, and labour strategy.
Employers in construction, energy, mining, technology, and the other sectors driving BC’s growth.
Industry associations, post-secondary institutions, and training partners, including leaders across the skilled trades.
Federal and economic development partners investing in BC’s long-term competitiveness.
Why attend
Policy, training, and hiring decisions are usually made in separate rooms. The Build Gap puts them in the same one. You’ll leave with new relationships across government and industry, a clearer read on where the workforce pressure points are, and a voice in the national conversation FutureFit AI is building on what Canada needs to deliver on its growth.
