About Event

Hi Friends! ODC is excited to present a brand-new Intro to Bachata Series designed for adventurous dancers looking to explore the vibrant world of social Latin dance 💃✨. Led by experienced performer and instructor Monica Ascencio, this series introduces the fundamentals of Bachata in a fun, supportive environment filled with rhythm, connection, and plenty of Latin flavor.

Each week, participants will learn foundational Bachata steps, exciting movement combinations, and partner-based techniques—all with an emphasis on fun, connection, and expression. The workshop also creates a space for post-class socializing, giving participants the chance to practice their moves, build community, and make new friends.

What to expect?

For the first 3 weeks, Feb 14th-28th, we will work in all isolations and basic patterns to understand Bachata's rhythm and the Latin Dance's essence, including choreography that will be practical for traveling across the floor.

The last three weeks, March 7th-21st will consist of drills and styling. We will practice dancing confidently and joyfully with the live DJ set, plus all the steps we have learned along the way.

After the class, you are welcome to stay for the open practice from 8:30-9:30 pm. Feel free to ask me any questions so I can help you with the Bachata dancing process and connection on an open floor.

What to wear?

  • Comfortable clothes that will allow you to move to the full extent.

  • Shoes: We recommend shoes with little grip to improve turn-taking and protect the knees—flexible sneakers, so you can comfortably flex your feet when footwork practiced.
