Hunt for Lost Civilizations #4/4 | Arkhub Research Hackathon
Exclusive paid course by the Arkhub Institute
What if you could find a lost ancient site from your laptop?
Arkhub: Search for Lost Civilization is a month-long collaborative research program — four live hackathons where we hunt for undocumented ancient sites using tools built by the Arkhub founders to locate undocumented ruins.
Who this is for
If you are a history buff, a technologist looking to learn new skills, or an Indiana Jones lover, this course is for you.
What you'll learn
Each session builds your ability to run independent archaeological site searches from anywhere in the world using open source tools and real research data.
By the end of the month you'll have:
Built a working detection pipeline from scratch
Developed fluency in professional remote sensing workflows
Contributed to a genuine archaeological investigation
Tools & technologies
Satellite data access — NASA Earthdata, ESA Copernicus, OpenTopography via Python APIs and QGIS
Multispectral & hyperspectral analysis — NDVI, SAR backscatter, and custom band combinations using rasterio, numpy, and matplotlib
LiDAR terrain processing — sub-canopy feature extraction using PDAL and QGIS
Detection pipeline construction — repeatable, scriptable Python workflows deployable across any region on Earth
Archaeological research methodology — hypothesis formation, candidate zone prioritization, and research-grade documentation
What happens each session
Each hackathon is a live working research sprint focused on a specific target region in Peru and the broader Andean world. You're not watching demos — you're doing active research alongside a team hunting for real undocumented sites.
