Right Problems, Right Tech: Charting a course for strategic AI Investment for the future of primary health
Please join the Agency Fund, Emerson Collective, and Mulago Foundation for a candid conversation on the role of AI and technology in accelerating primary healthcare in Africa.
Significant time, talent, and capital are flowing into AI for health — but are they focused on the right problems? Is technology being used to strengthen health systems or to generate more pilots that don’t scale?? What are the jobs to be done that make primary healthcare work, and where can technology truly add value — or not?
This session will identify the highest-leverage opportunities to improve primary healthcare and explore how governments, funders, and implementers can better align around them. We’ll examine how to avoid duplication, make AI investments catalytic for system strengthening, and ensure the right partnerships, talent, and capabilities are in place.
How do we avoid duplicative efforts and ensure investments in AI and tech are catalytic for health systems strengthening?
How do we ensure the right partnerships, teams, and support in place to capitalize on the relative strengths of the health and technology sectors at this time?
Do nonprofits need to start building out technology teams to do this or should they work through partnerships?
What are the capacity and talent needs for the sector? What’s the best way to address these needs?
We’ll kick off with a short panel moderated by Rebecca Hope from Emerson Collective, followed by small-group discussions led by Rohit Gawande from Mulago Foundation and Temina Madon from The Agency Fund.
