From Investment to Impact
The new geography of cleantech manufacturing investment
This event is built around a simple, honest premise: good data will not tell a country what to do, but it can show it the patterns — past and present — that make for smarter decisions. NZIPL has compiled a new global database of cleantech manufacturing foreign direct investment (FDI) that tracks these flows in greater detail than previously available. The session pairs that evidence with the perspectives of the people who actually move capital and negotiate deals, so the data stays grounded in how investment decisions really get made.
The morning is organized into a 1-hour, two-panel session. The first uses the database and our accompanying research to lay out what the cleantech manufacturing FDI landscape looks like and how it is shifting. The second moves from analysis to practice — bringing investors, planners, and financiers to the table to ask what these patterns mean for the deals being negotiated today, and why the benefits that host countries expect from FDI so often prove hard to capture.
