About Event

When you think about "glass skin" or "glowy skin," your mind probably goes straight to skincare products. Facials and multi-step routines can help, but what we're learning today is that skin health is directly tied to the balance between your gut, your nervous system, and your mental health.

Your skin is already telling you something. Breakouts right before a big deadline or after fried food, or redness that flares after a rough week of eating on the go: in Traditional Chinese Medicine, these signs mean something.

If you've noticed your skin shifting with your stress levels, digestion, or environment, you're not imagining it, and you're not alone. How we feel mentally affects our digestion and gut health, and that shows up directly on our skin.

Led by a TCM-informed Business Consultant and a Naturopathic Doctor, this session will explore how to:

  • Use Traditional Chinese Medicine principles to get unstuck in your daily habits

  • Manage stress through food and lifestyle

  • Build healthier habits that support long-term healing and sustainable change for your whole body

Dr. Julie Hwang, Naturopathic Doctor, and Michelle Hsu, TCM-informed Business Consultant, will walk you through how stress, digestion, sleep, and everyday business and wellness habits connect to what shows up on your skin, and what that looks like through both an integrative medicine and a TCM lens.

Kind Words from Past Attendees ✨

“This was an interesting experience and I enjoyed learning how to adapt the foods we eat based on the season and our environment. It was fascinating to learn about different seasonal ingredients, what they can support, and the daily rhythm of the organs. The herbal tea we tried was also great - it was delicious and felt like something I could easily incorporate into my everyday routine. Overall, the experience made TCM feel practical and approachable. It’s a great start for anyone who wants to explore TCM and learn how to bring some of its principles into their daily life.”
– L. K.

“Honestly, I had such a good time. I felt relaxed and excited the whole way through, with just enough curiosity mixed in to keep things interesting. I loved learning some new TCM terms and concepts I'd never really dug into before, and it was cool getting the tea alongside it as well as understanding the properties of each ingredient. Meeting other people there was a highlight too, I walked away with some great resources (acupuncture, shops, etc.) I wouldn't have found otherwise. If you're on the fence about going to a TCM Walk, just do it — you'll come away with more than a nice afternoon, you'll actually pick up some real knowledge and connections.”

Meet Your Hosts

Hi, I'm Michelle 👋🏻

I'm a former B2B SaaS marketer turned Intuitive Business Strategist and someone who has been quietly weaving TCM philosophy into how I work with people for a while now. The way a good TCM practitioner listens and understands before they prescribe anything, that's also how I approach my client sessions.

This event as a part of the Toronto TCM Walk series is my way of bringing that same energy into a more relaxed setting for people who are ready to stop overcomplicating their health protocols and get back to building their internal foundations.

Hi, I'm Dr. Julie Hwang ND 👋🏻

I'm a licensed naturopathic doctor and the founder of Aurum Medicine & Wellness, where I've spent years building bridges between Traditional Chinese Medicine, functional nutrition, and evidence-informed naturopathic care.

I believe in walking the talk, and that integrative medicine is about living in alignment with nature, while still optimizing with modern health and medicine tools we have. I also believe that for business owners, health shows up on the bottom line. We can use principles of medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine to live better.

We are hosting this talk after speaking internationally on the gut-brain and gut-skin connections, because wellness doesn't need to live only in a clinic or feel like a chore. Sometimes the most grounding health conversations and those experiences that inspire us to change for the better happen outside, moving, in community. Come join us.
