Wilder: Wild Lessons for Bold Leaders - FSO Speaker Series
About
At Figuring Shit Out, we put on events for Founders who don't normally go to events. We didn't believe Singapore needed another panel, fireside chat or Q&A so we did the radical step of asking speakers to sit down ahead of time and think about what they wanted to say. Beyond palatable food & hopefully more than palatable networking, why schlep across town to sit in a cramped room for an hour: Perspective!
All our speakers come from fascinating career backgrounds that caused them to look at the world and think about problems in uniquely insightful ways. Each of our talks provides a unique lens on the problems facing startups that Founders can absorb to provide a new toolkit of insights for their own founder journey.
Topic
Most founders and leaders operate in survival mode - chasing targets, raising rounds, managing teams - all within carefully controlled systems. But growth doesn’t happen inside control; it happens in the wild.
In Wilder: Wild Lessons for Bold Leaders, ex-M&A law & strategy consultant Urmika Agarwal draws from her real-life adventures in the jungles of India, the Indian ocean, and the Himalayan mountains to reveal what nature teaches us about leadership, adaptability, and instinct.
This talk explores how lessons from the wild can sharpen your edge in business. You’ll learn:
How stillness and observation help you spot opportunities your competitors miss
Why communicating clearly under pressure is the ultimate leadership skill
How to turn uncertainty and constraints into creativity and innovation
Practical frameworks to help you lead teams with resilience and intuition
If you’ve ever felt stuck in execution mode, Wilder will remind you how to think expansively again - to rewild your instincts, rediscover your edge, and lead with boldness in unpredictable times.
About the Speaker
Urmika Agarwal is a strategy and communications consultant, MBA graduate, and former M&A lawyer who helps founders and leaders communicate with clarity and conviction through their business storytelling, narratives and pitch decks. Having worked with startups, incubators and MNCs across SEA, she has spent years in boardrooms helping ideas take shape - and most recently, in the wild, learning what nature teaches us about leadership and resilience.
Her upcoming book Wilder explores how lessons from the jungle, the ocean, and the Himalayas can sharpen business instincts, improve decision-making, and build creative confidence. In this talk, Urmika shares three real stories - from tracking tigers to surviving a dive gone wrong - to reveal what founders can learn about patience, communication, and opportunity spotting from the natural world.
