September Fulbright Alumni Stammtisch – Zur Gerichtslaube [THU, 24.09 at 06:30pm]
September calls for a proper Stammtisch, so we're heading to the oldest corner of Berlin. You are welcome to join on September 24th at 06:30pm CET.
The Gerichtslaube was built around 1270 as the courthouse of the medieval town hall. It survived centuries of grim justice, lost its home when the Altes Rathaus was torn down for the Rotes Rathaus around 1870, and waited more than a hundred years before being rebuilt in the Nikolaiviertel, where it stands today.
Inside: vaulted ceilings, bull's-eye windows, stone floors, heavy wooden tables. Outside: cobblestones and the Spree. It's about as old-Berlin as the city gets.
No talks, no agenda — just a long table, Berlin food, cold drinks and the usual transatlantic conversations. Whether you're just back from the States, a US grantee currently in Berlin, or an alum from the nineties: come along.
