Seminar: Advancing Public Drone Services
Within Vidzeme Innovation Week, on February 25, the fifth seminar of the “Smart Skies” project, titled “Advancing Public Drone Services”, will take place in Valmiera, Jānis Daliņš stadium Conference hall.
The aim of the seminar is to showcase existing use cases of drone applications in public service delivery, shared by experts from Latvia and Finland, as well as to outline the overall development trends of the sector at both national and European levels.
Diāna Gauče, Head of Network Management Development of Latvian national electricity distributor AS “Sadales tīkls”, will explain how technology helps a large company work in a smarter and more efficient way, using drones for electric grid inspection.
Kimmo Paajanen, Senior Lecturer of Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oamk) “Arctic Drone Labs”, will share how the research platform works in cooperation with businesses and public sector to develop new drone services, test prototypes and explore various drone applications.
Artis Pabriks, Executive Director of the Military Technology, Drones and Robotics Association (MilTech Latvia), will introduce the association’s perspective on drone industry development tendencies and its significance in the current public security and defence landscape, as well as opportunities for further cooperation among sectors.
The seminar will be concluded by Reinis Pozņaks, Member of the European Parliament, who will join remotely to highlight the role of unmanned aviation technology in today’s reality of Europe and the need to strengthen the rapidly evolving drone sector, including smoother regulatory procedures and flexible funding mechanisms.
