How the Deal Gets Done - Fireside Chat with Bobby Sharma
Sports, media and entertainment offer investment opportunities across technology, services, live experiences and the enabling infrastructure behind the industry. Investing successfully requires a deep understanding of how these businesses operate, how commercial models are built and how lasting value is created.
Join the South Asian Finance Association of New York for our next “How the Deal Gets Done” fireside chat, hosted by Kirkland & Ellis, with Bobby Sharma, Founder & Managing Partner of Bluestone Equity Partners — an institutionally backed private equity firm focused on the global Sports, Media & Entertainment industry.
Bobby is one of a small number of Indian Americans to have founded and built an institutionally backed private equity firm in the United States. His career spans practicing law at Cravath, helping build the NBA Development League (now the NBA G League), leading global basketball and strategic initiatives at IMG, and serving as Vice Chairman & CEO of Soccerex before founding Bluestone. He has been recognized as a Sports & Entertainment Industry Power Player by the Sports Business Journal, and one of the 25 Most Influential South Asian Executives in Media & Entertainment by Korn Ferry.
Our conversation will trace Bobby’s journey from law to operating leadership to private equity, exploring how his industry experience shapes his investment philosophy and approach to partnering with founders and management teams. We’ll also discuss what it takes to build an institutional investment firm from the ground up, and the lessons his path holds for the next generation of South Asian investors and entrepreneurs.
