About Event

Meet up with Anthony, a veteran volunteer of San Francisco Transit Riders, as you embark on a trip on SMART to the Petaluma Craft Beer Festival. Make sure that you purchase your tickets to the Beer Festival ($60 general admission; $25 designated driver) prior to arriving at the event near Petaluma Downtown SMART station.

------

Plan to meet me at any of these locations:

Larkspur Ferry Terminal: 11:20am (ferry leaves San Francisco Ferry Building at 10:45am)
We will walk to the Larkspur SMART station via the Marin Country Mart as Train 8 won't leave until 12:09pm

San Rafael SMART: 12:16pm
Connections from Golden Gate Transit and Marin Transit routes include:
- Golden Gate Transit Route 101 from San Francisco: 11:50am (leaving Transbay Terminal at 10:52am)
- Golden Gate Transit Route 580 from Del Norte BART: 11:50am (leaving Del Norte BART at 11:15am)
- Marin Transit routes: see corresponding route for exact times (meet our group from the closest SMART station you can get to)

Petaluma Downtown SMART: 12:49pm

From Petaluma Downtown SMART station, it is around a 10-minute walk to the festival area, located next to the Petaluma River along Water Street.

------

If you're coming from points around Sonoma County, meet the following trains or bus that will get to Petaluma Downtown SMART or Copeland Street Transit Mall at:

SMART southbound: (Feel free to either wait for my group at the station or walk directly to the event location in Historic Downtown Petaluma)

  • Train 9 at 12:12pm (leaving Windsor at 11:31am)

  • Train 11 at 1:16pm (leaving Windsor at 12:35pm)

Sonoma County Transit 48 southbound: 12:49pm (leaving Coddingtown at 11:15am, Santa Rosa Transit Mall at 11:32am)

If you live along Sonoma County Transit Route 44 (especially for those from Sonoma State University and East Petaluma), consider taking rideshare or bikeshare to the nearest SMART station (like Cotati or Santa Rosa Downtown) or riding LumaGo with Petaluma Transit.

------

Tips:

  • If using a Clipper card or bank card (credit or debit), make sure you load your card with adequate cash value as SMART operates with a zone fare structure (minimum fare is $1.50 for one zone, with $1.50 charge for additional zones; for example, a ride from Larkspur or San Rafael to Petaluma Downtown is $4.50)

  • You can save a lot of money if you're traveling to and from San Francisco by purchasing SMART's Sail and Rail Ticket, available from SMART's e-ticketing app. If buying this ticket to and from the event, purchase two Sail and Rail Tickets for $10 each, totaling $20. This will allow you to ride Golden Gate Ferry and SMART under one ticket.

  • SMART and Golden Gate Transit operate as a tap on, tap off system (before boarding, you tap on a card reader; when you get off, tap off). Remember to tap off when exiting as failure to do so will leaad to your card charging you the highest possible fare!

  • Feel free to take pictures and video throughout the ride and the Petaluma Craft Beer Festival.

Post-event service is available from Petaluma Downtown SMART or Copeland Street Transit Mall at:

  • SMART southbound: 4:28pm (if you want to meet the 6pm ferry from Larkspur Ferry Terminal), 5:32pm, 7:08pm, and 8:44pm

  • SMART northbound: 4:01pm, 5:05pm, 6:09pm, 7:13pm, 8:49pm, and 10:33pm

  • Sonoma County Transit 44 northbound: 6:25pm and 8:50pm

  • Sonoma County Transit 48 northbound: 5:10pm and 7:50pm
