About Event

Every contribution supports the same gathering. The different contribution levels reflect different ways of supporting accessibility and the long-term sustainability of the Weaving Futures ecosystem—not different levels of access.

Why are we gathering?

Over the past decade, Product Tonic, Opening Space for Sustainability and The Collab Folks have brought together people from across Southeast Asia through meetups, retreats, unconferences, learning labs and community experiments.

Along the way, something interesting happened.

Our conversations gradually expanded beyond product management, design and Agile.

People began exploring questions about leadership, facilitation, belonging, sustainability, transitions, personal growth and how we remain connected in an increasingly complex world.

This gathering marks the beginning of a new chapter.

Not because we have found the answers, but because we believe these questions are best explored together.

Rather than launching another programme, we are opening a public practice space where people can continue learning, facilitating and building communities together.

Why now?

We are living through a time of rapid technological change, shifting careers, growing uncertainty and increasing complexity.

Many of us are asking questions such as:

  • How do we stay connected while everything around us keeps changing?

  • How do we support one another through transitions?

  • What does a meaningful community look like today?

  • How do we remain deeply human in an age increasingly shaped by AI?

  • What does stewardship look like—for ourselves, our organisations and the wider world?

We don't expect everyone to ask the same questions.

But we do believe these are questions worth exploring together.

Why Ground-Up Initiative?

One of the questions we asked ourselves while designing the Launch Gathering was not only what conversations we hoped to host, but where those conversations could best take place.

We believe place matters.

The spaces we gather in quietly influence how we relate to one another.

Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) has spent many years cultivating Kampung Kampus as more than a venue.

It is a living community dedicated to reconnecting people with Nature, Self & Others through experiential learning, community participation and sustainable living. Its mission is rooted in care, shared responsibility and helping people grow through doing together rather than simply learning about it.

That philosophy resonates deeply with the intentions behind Weaving Futures.

Both invite us to slow down.

To participate.

To contribute.

To learn alongside one another.

Rather than simply renting a venue, we're grateful to be partnering with GUI in creating conditions where meaningful conversations, relationships and community practice can emerge.

We hope that as you explore Kampung Kampus—its gardens, workshop spaces, earth oven, volunteers and community—you'll experience not only the gathering itself, but also the spirit of the place that is helping make it possible.

An Invitation to Co-create

This gathering follows the principles of Open Space Technology.

There are no invited keynote speakers.

No predetermined breakout sessions.

Instead, everyone is invited to contribute.

You might bring:

  • a question

  • a challenge

  • an experiment

  • a story

  • a conversation you've been longing to have

  • or simply your curiosity.

Together, we'll discover what matters most to the people in the room.

Because while none of us can predict exactly what conversations will emerge...

We trust that the people who gather will create the conversations that are needed.

Beyond the Gathering

The Launch Gathering is only the beginning.

For those who wish to continue the journey, it also serves as the entry point into Weaving Futures—an emerging ecosystem of Practice Labs and communities of practice focused on:

  • Youth Capability

  • Community Facilitation

  • Transition & Resilience

Some people may come for two days of conversation.

Others may decide to continue learning, practising and contributing over the months ahead.

Both are welcome.

🌏 Supporting a Larger Ecosystem

Your contribution doesn't simply fund an event.

It helps support:

  • the Launch Gathering itself

  • accessible participation through flexible pricing

  • the growth of the Weaving Futures community

  • our ongoing partnership with Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) as a place for learning and community practice

A Small Note

If you're able to contribute towards the higher end of the suggested range, thank you.

Your generosity helps make this gathering more accessible for students, young adults and others who may not otherwise be able to participate.

If you need to contribute at the lower end of the range, you're equally welcome.

We believe the diversity of people in the room matters far more than everyone paying the same amount.

What is an Unconference?

Learning from what matters most

Unlike a traditional conference, an unconference has no pre-set agenda of speakers or breakout sessions.

Instead, the people who gather become the people who shape the conversations.

Everyone is invited to contribute:

  • a question

  • a challenge

  • an experience

  • a story

  • an experiment

  • or simply their curiosity.

Together, participants create the agenda at the start of the gathering.

This means every unconference is unique.

No two are ever the same.

What if I've never attended an unconference?

Perfect.

Many people attending will be experiencing Open Space for the first time.

There are no experts in "doing an unconference."

Bring:

  • your curiosity

  • your questions

  • your experiences

  • your willingness to listen

  • and your willingness to contribute.

That is enough.

The Spirit of the Gathering

The Launch Gathering is not about finding the "right" answers.

It is about creating the conditions for meaningful conversations, unexpected connections and shared learning.

You might leave with:

  • a new collaborator

  • a fresh perspective

  • a difficult question

  • an unexpected friendship

  • an idea worth exploring

  • or simply a deeper appreciation for the people and communities around you.

Whatever emerges, we hope you'll leave feeling that you were not just attending an event—but helping to shape it.

You are not just a participant.

You are a co-creator of this gathering.

Every conversation you host, every question you ask, every story you share and every connection you make becomes part of the learning ecology we are weaving together.

Themes

Conversations currently emerging

Recent community conversations have included:

• Staying Human in an AI-shaped World

• Navigating Change & Uncertainty

• Holding Better Spaces for Others

• Supporting Youth & Emerging Leaders

• Building Community & Alternative Futures

These are not the event agenda.

They simply reflect conversations already happening across our wider community.

The agenda itself will be created by participants on the day.

Practice Labs

The unconference is only one doorway.

Interested participants can register after the event.

Participants receive discounted Lab pricing.

Community Contribution Information

We believe meaningful learning communities thrive when they are both accessible and sustainable.

Instead of a single ticket price, we've adopted a community contribution model.

If you're able to contribute a little more, you'll help make the gathering more accessible for others. If cost is a barrier, choose a contribution within the suggested range that feels right for your current circumstances.

🌱 Community : SGD 80-400

🎓 Student / Youth : SGD 40 - 80

❤️ Community Supporter : SGD 150 - 800

** Every contribution supports the same gathering. The different contribution levels reflect different ways of supporting accessibility and the long-term sustainability of the Weaving Futures ecosystem—not different levels of access.
