Beginner Sewing: Make a bag!

​Learn to make two versatile bag styles: a classic tote and a handy drawstring bag. These projects will teach you the basics of cutting, sewing straight seams, and finishing edges—perfect for beginners.

​And then it’s time to put your new skills to use! Bring a couple of your favorite items in need of repair and we’ll see where a few stitches can get them back in working order.

​Important Information

• ​We provide two sewing machines and all materials for the classes.

• ​You are welcome to bring your own machine if you know it is in working order and can change the bobbin and do a straight stitch.

• ​If you need help getting acquainted with a new or vintage machine, contact us for a 1:1 session.

• ​If you want to use your own fabric, make sure it has gone through at least one wash cycle.

• ​The best fabrics for beginners are natural woven materials, such as cotton or linen.
