About the Event
Kick off AfricArena Grand Summit week the Cape Town way: a sunrise Walk & Talk up Lion’s Head led by Will Green and hosted by AfricArena. Instead of a coffee meeting, we climb, connect, and rise together, with founders & funders, ecosystem builders and friends, before the Summit officially begins.
Born from Will’s “Walk instead of coffee?” idea, this curated hike has become a beloved Cape Town ritual where five separate meetings get done in one energised, healthy session. Expect meaningful conversations, serendipitous intros, and panoramic views as the city wakes below you.
What to Expect
Curated crowd: a balanced mix of investors, founders, and ecosystem leaders (local & international).
Format: easy “walk-and-talk” pace with natural regroup points and a photo stop at the summit.
Route: ±5 km round trip, ~370 m ascent on a well-marked trail with a few ladders; moderate fitness recommended.
Timing: meet 5:55 AM, depart 6:00 AM sharp, summit just after sunrise, return to base ~8:00 AM: in time to freshen up and hit your first session.
What to Bring
Trail/running shoes with good grip
Water (500ml+); hat, sunscreen & sunglasses (summer sun!)
Light windproof layer; optional headlamp if you like starting bright-eyed
Charged phone for photos (and to share that summit shot)
Secure spot for your car keys
Meeting Point
Lion’s Head Parking, Cape Town (pin on the event page). We leave at 06:00 on the dot. Latecomers can catch up on the main path.
Safety & Weather
We hike in fair weather only; approved registrants receive a WhatsApp update the day before with final go/no-go and group details. You participate at your own risk; please assess your fitness and follow the trail guidelines.
