NOVAH: a talk by Ivy van Regteren Altena
Last year in East Africa, 1 in 4 women was physically abused and/or raped by her partner. Beyond the violence itself, domestic abuse causes a wide range of physical and mental health issues and has long-lasting effects on children. The radio shows made by NOVAH portray alternative behaviors for healthier relationships, empowering listeners to reflect and change.
Prevention for intimate partner violence (IPV) is heavily underfunded, and NOVAH has found a way to tackle this problem in a new and creative way. It is highly cost-effective—at least, that is what we know so far. The recent randomized controlled trial on NOVAH's effectiveness is there to test it.
Ivy is the founder of NOVAH and she will be giving a short presentation on her work. She will share how Charity Entrepreneurship helped her found this amazing organization, what it is like to found and lead an effective charity, and give insights into the recent randomized controlled trial.
