Reception in honour of Esben Gadsbøll, recipient of the 2025 Ebbe Munck Honorary Award
Join us as we celebrate Esben Gadsbøll, Chairman of Danish Tech Startups, who has been awarded the 2025 Ebbe Munck Honorary Award for his outstanding work for democracy, innovation, and freedom.
The award recognizes Esben’s remarkable efforts to build digital platforms that strengthen democratic dialogue, free from algorithms that fuel polarization, and his tireless engagement in supporting Ukraine’s technological and defense innovation since Russia’s full-scale invasion.
In its citation, the foundation states:
Without official titles or institutional backing, Esben Gadsbøll is a highly unconventional democratic activist who operates both in Danish society and internationally on many fronts... At the core of his work is his effort to create digital platforms that enable democratic debate free from algorithms that promote polarization and extremism. [...] Internationally, Esben Gadsbøll became engaged shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and since then he has worked tirelessly in and outside Ukraine to contribute to the innovation and tech development that lies at the heart of Ukraine’s impressive advancement of new technologies in its defense. In doing so, he has also helped promote the understanding of the role that technology and innovation play in the fight for freedom
Esben is the first representative of the Danish business community to receive the award, which was presented by H.M. Queen Margrethe II at Christiansborg Palace on 4 November.

We will celebrate Esben’s achievements, his commitment to democratic innovation, and his deep engagement in supporting Ukraine’s fight for freedom through technology and entrepreneurship.

Esben kindly asks guests not to bring gifts. Instead, you are warmly encouraged to support the Ukrainian organisation Victory Drones - an initiative teaching civilians and the military to use technology effectively in times of war, uniting over 200 UAV instructors and 30 volunteers working for a technological victory and a free Ukraine.
