[Free women only hike]: Waterfalls and Summit Views · Partnach Gorge and Eckbauer

​Garmisch's showstopper. A loop through the legendary Partnachklamm, a 700-metre natural monument carved 80 metres deep into the rock, with thundering waterfalls, rushing pools and tunnels cut straight into the cliff face. From there, a steady climb up to the Eckbauer summit with sweeping views of the Wetterstein massif and the Zugspitze. One of the most dramatic day hikes reachable from Munich by public transport. 🏔️

​Distance: 9.7 km · Elevation: ~600 m · Time: 4 to 4.5 h · Difficulty: Moderate to Hard. Sustained climb to Eckbauer. The gorge section can be wet and slippery, a light rain jacket is recommended. 🥾

​Getting there: RB6 (DB Regio) from München Hauptbahnhof to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, around 1h 20min. To ensure everyone has a great day, the hike will start promptly at the scheduled time. As the group will be moving together from the meeting points, we kindly ask that you plan your journey to arrive accordingly, as we aren't able to hold the start for late arrivals. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping the day on track!

​Logistics: Group size capped at 10, please sign up. Meeting option 1: At München Hauptbahnhof, RB6 platform direction Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Please arrive by 8:20am to board the 8:32am RB6. Meeting option 2: At Garmisch-Partenkirchen station on arrival at around 9:52am. Return: RB6 from Garmisch back to München Hauptbahnhof, around 1h 20min. Aiming to finish the trail by around 16:00 and be back in Munich by around 17:30.

​Important: Gorge entrance fee is 7.50 EUR per adult. Bring cash as card readers are not always available inside. The gorge has several dark tunnel sections, a phone torch is helpful. Expect to get a little wet from the spray.

​What to bring: Sturdy hiking shoes, waterproof if possible. Light rain jacket or packable windshell. Packed lunch, snacks and at least 1.5L of water. Sunscreen. 7.50 EUR cash for the gorge entry. 🧺

​Cost: Free. You only pay for your transport and gorge entry. Bayern Ticket strongly recommended. Tips for the host in cash or coffee are always welcome. 🪙
