SF/SF: Scifi San Francisco Salon
To Apply Space is limited. Selection is intentional. Please fill out the application form here so we can learn about your background, your relationship to science fiction, and what you'd bring to the room.
Can science fiction keep up with a world that's moving faster than anything the genre ever predicted?
AI is here. Robotics are here. The future is here — but has science fiction caught up? Or did the singularity pass us by?
The SF/SF Salon is an intimate, interdisciplinary gathering of science fiction thinkers from the San Francisco Bay Area. Writers, filmmakers, technologists, designers, philosophers, scientists, and devoted readers coming together to ask one question: what is the new science fiction?
What are its subgenres, its aesthetics, its possibilities?
Can it be utopian? Dystopian? Both?
Solarpunk, post-singularity, or something that doesn't have a name yet?
Can we pioneer new genres rooted in this place, this moment, and the people in this room?
This is not a book club. This is a working group — a mastermind series running winter through summer 2026.
Format → Three rotating session hosts lead breakout discussions each gathering → Shared projector for live references, clips, and conversation → Curated reading list before each session (suggested, not required) → Persistent group chat between sessions → All sessions recorded with AI note-takers → No hard time constraints — the conversation takes as long as it takes
For our first session, we will have a meet and greet, discuss the format, and craft the series together.
Rules → Capped at 20 members → Attendance is commitment — if you don't show, your spot goes to someone who will → Interdisciplinary by design → Inquiry over debate
