Romance in Retrograde: An Astrological Speed Dating/Relating Experience
On October 3rd, Venus will retrograde, but the planet has already been in Scorpio for a bit. What does this mean? And what does it mean to have the power of Venus in a sign where difficult truths are known, felt, and desired?
Romance in Retrograde is an invitation to explore relational astrology and the moods and themes of retrograde Venus in Scorpio. How have the past couple of weeks felt for you relationally? Whether you’re already familiar with astrology or don’t know your sun sign, this space is for you to learn and explore. We’ll discuss Venus and how astrology helps us understand our own needs, desires, and fears, and how this self knowledge creates authentic relationships.This event is a place of play, learning, and exploration. There is no pressure to “speed date”, but the experience will be curated in a similar fashion. Astrology is a guide; there are no guarantees that matches will become sustainable relationships, nor is it the sole focus. Together, we will create a safe space to engage in live interactions based on our personal astrological charts.

We’ll do 5 rounds of pairing off with each other based on the element of your Sun, Moon, Rising, Venus, and Mars. Get to know each other as you desire or follow the prompts that will be provided. If anyone isn’t matched, don’t worry! You’ll have the opportunity to talk to me and ask questions about your chart, or we can discuss in a small group and follow the prompts together.
Everyone will choose their own name tags indicating their desired method of engaging: if interested in a speed dating experience choose a name tag labeled “romance”, and if interested in a platonic relating experience, the name tag will read “retrograde”, or take one of each ;).
After the rounds are completed, we’ll come together to discuss what we’ve learned. What was your experience of conversing with someone that has a fire moon while you have an air moon? Is your Mars in water while you were paired with someone with Mars in air? What did you notice about the energy exchange?

The location will be shared with all folks who RSVP the week of the event. For those traveling from outside of the immediate bay area, the closest Bart station to the event is Ashby Bart in Berkeley and the zip code for the venue is 94705.
Hi-Fi Listening Experience
Blu Moon will be providing the sonic ambiance for our audio pleasure.
The venue is built with love and meant to create a full body experience when enjoying the music. There are hanging speakers as well as subs inside of the floor, so you’ll be able to feel the vibrations of the music as we listen.
Food / Beverages

This event is an inspired offering marking the one-year anniversary of BlackMoon Astrology’s becoming. Romance in Retrograde is a NOTAFLOF event. The suggested donation is $33; please donate what you can and consider offering an addition to the potluck if paying isn’t easeful. Offerings help sustain BlackMoon Astrology and the beautiful space we're communing in.

Accessibility / Access
The space is located in a residential area that is not wheelchair accessible as there are roughly 3 steps that lead up to the space for those who may need assistance.
This is an intimate space.
There are several stairs that lead outside to the fire pit.
There will be both couch and floor seating with a cozy and intimate setup in place.
This is NOT a scent-free space as we will be burning incense on the altar.

We honor safe consumption practices and will hold ourselves accountable to not overly consume in substances in ways impact our ability to navigate the space with care and consideration of others.
If you are not Black, Brown or Indigenous you will maintain a constant level of awareness regarding the space you take up.
We will respect the altar and engage with it respectfully.
We understand that the guides of the space have the right to ask anyone to leave for any reason disclosed or undisclosed to ensure the safety, joy, and dignity of the space and all within it.
