DC Day Trips - Twilight Hike and Stargazing
βJoin DC Day Trips for another adventure!
βWhere are we going this time?
π
πΆπ»ββοΈββ‘οΈπ Just about an hour and a half from DC, we're headed back to Sky Meadows State Park for a completely different experience. At night, this is an area free of light pollution and where stargazing is made easier.
βBut first, we'll take an easy twilight hike through colorful changing autumn trees. The later hours of the day are also an opportunity to spot wildlife like predatory birds (hawks, kestrals) and mammals (flying squirrels, deer, foxes).
ββ¨πͺπ International Dark Sky Place (Virginia): After sunset we will turn our eyes to a night sky without light pollution. First, weβll meet NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) Ambassadors who will do a brief introduction on space. Afterwards, the Northern Virginia Astronomy Club (NOVAC) opens their telescopes to the public to observe the planets and constellations. β¨πͺπ
βThen we head back to DC.

About Us
DC Day Trips is cultivating a community of Washingtonians who love the outdoors and want to spend less time planning and more time connecting with nature and friends.
βWe believe the outdoors should be more accessible to DC residents (no car? no problem). That's why we help plan ALL the logistics, including transportation.
βThis summer and fall, we are hosting trips to hike, explore, and gather in the incredible outdoor spaces the DMV has to offer. Destinations are just outside the beltway, only 1-3 hours away from DC.
