Sexuality Beyond Consent Meets Group Relations: A Reading Group

​Commitment: Read one chapter a week and miss no more than two meetings

​Hosted by TNYC’s Executive Committee and led by member-at-large Jacob Peter Kovner, this reading group will explore Avgi Saketopoulou’s Sexuality Beyond Consent: Risk, Race and Traumatophilia (2023). Saketopoulou asks what might be possible if we examined how difficult, even traumatic, experiences shape who we become and writes about why people return to intense learning spaces (like a GRC). This peer-led reading group for 15 TNYC members invites us to think together about what these ideas might mean for conference work around race, authority, and transformation. Please note that this is not necessarily a here-and-now event, and participants are asked to commit to curiosity about the potentially provocative ideas presented and other opinions raised, even if they disagree.
