About Event

Recognize self-doubt, interrupt avoidance, and turn good intentions into committed action.

You know what you need to do. You may even have made the plan. But somehow, you still don’t start.

That does not always mean you are lazy or undisciplined. Often, procrastination is a sign that something about the task brings up discomfort: self-doubt, uncertainty, fear of making the wrong choice, fear of doing it badly, or the pressure of making something real.

This session is about making the shift from avoidance to committed action. You’ll learn how to recognize what may be happening underneath procrastination, reconnect with what matters, and take action before you feel completely ready.

You’ll leave with the ability to:

  • Recognize when procrastination is being driven by avoidance, self-doubt, or discomfort

  • Identify the thoughts and feelings that may be keeping an important task stuck

  • Understand how short-term relief can create longer-term pressure

  • Reconnect with what matters before taking action

  • Turn good intentions into one specific committed step

Apply the session content immediately to your work, leadership, career, or life decisions

Format: This is a 90-minute interactive workshop with brief teaching, guided reflection, practical exercises, and optional sharing.

This event is part of Staying Strong Through Change and Uncertainty, a six-week community learning series hosted by the Centre for Social Innovation and delivered by Career Aviators. It is designed to help business owners and professionals stay grounded, think clearly and keep contributing through the growing change and uncertainty we are all experiencing in our work, businesses, families and communities.

The series responds to the pressures many people are facing right now, including changes in work and technology, financial strain, climate concerns, conflict, career transitions and burnout. Each session offers practical tools for understanding these pressures and navigating change with greater clarity, resilience and purpose.

About Your Facilitator
Wayne Greenway has spent his career developing practical ways to strengthen psychological resilience in people facing profound uncertainty and change.

His early work focused on seriously ill children and youth and their families. He developed family-oriented, multi-system programs for paediatric teaching centres and held a faculty position with Queen’s University’s Faculty of Medicine for 16 years.

Wayne later applied this work with military families, people living with neurodegenerative disease, and professionals navigating career uncertainty. He is the creator of The Phoenix Series, a practical, research-informed program that helps people manage self-doubt, make sound decisions, and move forward through challenging periods of change.
