About the event

How can new data sources and innovative methods help us better understand elites and the reproduction of inequality? The Cambridge Inequality Lab: Caste and Data explores new ways to study how caste persists and adapts, while extending the frontiers of research on inequality in South Asia and beyond.

In this second session, we juxtapose India with the UK to continue refining our understanding of the elite – how they can be identified, mapped, and understood – using innovative data and methods. We will explore how researchers develop their questions and choose their data and methods, the challenges involved in collecting and analysing new forms of evidence, and how working with these data can reshape our understanding of elites.
