NYC New In Town Meetup
New to the city and eager to start building your local community?
Come hang out with fellow New Yorkers for a fun, welcoming gathering where we'll meet new people, share the social life we wish for, swap tips, and help each other feel at home in NYC.
This is a space to connect with new people, and help each other take action, find support, and build the local community we want around us.
Newcomers are risk-takers, builders, and innovators looking for belonging. When we welcome newcomers, we strengthen our communities and prevent loneliness.
Let’s build a more connected NYC together!
Newcomers and longtime residents of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.
Agenda (note that we'll start promptly at 6pm and finish on time)
6:00pm: warm welcome and introductions
6:30pm: we share what we wish for
6:45pm: small group exchanges where we share practical tips, e.g. people, places, events, groups, neighborhoods
7:00pm: group debrief and community time
7:30pm: event ends
What to bring
Your curiosity, ideas, or simply your presence and willingness to participate. Bring Your Own Drink (BYOB) and I'll bring a few healthy snacks.
Your host
I’m Odile, a longtime NYC resident who has moved to new cities and countries multiple times. I know firsthand how challenging it can be to feel at home, and how much power newcomers have to reshape a community for the better.
