Next Level Friendship
Bring a friend or partner to Next Level Friendship — and leave with a deeper connection to yourself and one another.
So many of us live our lives on autopilot, and our friendships are no different. We have routines and comfortable conversation topics. This is beautiful; it means we’ve found common ground where we like relating to one another. It can also mean we’ve stopped discovering new sides of the people we love.
Next Level Friendship is a rare chance to pause and care for your relationship in a new way. You’ll get a chance to laugh together, play together, and share love and gratitude to whatever extent is real for you. You’ll also gently explore places where your relationship still has room to grow — and imagine what a “next level” version of your friendship (or partnership) could look like. All this on a foundation of care for each other and the relationship.
This isn’t a PowerPoint presentation on Zoom.
This is a series of real, guided exercises you’ll do with a real friend of your choice — equal parts playful and heartfelt. If you’re in the same city, we strongly recommend doing these games in person together. While the facilitation is virtual, most of the impact comes from doing the activities together.
Agenda
Settling in: getting comfortable and grounded
Gratitude & appreciation: sharing what you love about this relationship — why you chose to spend this time together, and the role you’ve played in each other’s lives.
Blockers to connection: exploring where your relationship hasn’t quite caught up to who you’ve both become. Where might fear or habit get in the way of closeness — and how could you meet that with gentleness and curiosity?
Co-creating a “fuck-yes” relationship: imagining how this friendship or partnership could grow in ways that feel exciting and aligned for both of you.
Brass tacks:
What to bring: just yourself (and your person). A journal and water bottle can help, but no need to prepare anything.
Format: this is a series of pair-based activities, so bring someone you’re genuinely excited to spend time with.
Who it’s for: equally great for platonic friendships and romantic relationships — people in both have had wonderful experiences.
About the facilitation team
Next Level Friendship will be facilitated by one of our lead facilitators & curriculum developers at Sleepawake:
Our facilitator team weaves dozens of lineages of practice including Byron Katie’s The Work, Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing, Alexander Lowen’s Bioenergetics, Integral Theory, as well as a deep appreciation of the evolution of consciousness and the sources of human suffering and joy. Our work evolved into a residential experience called Sleepawake, where participants immerse themselves into utterly new ways of being — some call it “How to Human”.
