About Event

Join NCRM's Collaborative and Participatory Methodological Special Interest Group for our fourth annual Critical Conversation series.

Creating a space for critical conversations to emerge, this session will focus on the topic of evaluating and analysing participatory data.

The session will begin with lightning talkers presenting on their recent work. Following these provocations, attendees will be invited to join breakout rooms with the lightning talkers, to engage in further discussions.

Lightning talkers are:

Dr Zoe John, Lecturer in Criminology and Sociology at Swansea University, who will guide us in navigating the analysis of 'self' within vulnerable spaces and participatory data.

Fay Cosgrove, PhD Researcher at Cardiff University, will discuss evaluating participatory data through game-play; capturing 'groupishness' by getting the thermometers to read themselves.

Dr Penelope Mendonça, pioneering graphic facilitator and cartoonist, will share her Values-Based Cartooning: a human approach recording, evaluating and analysing participatory data.

This session will be hosted on Zoom and guided by the MSIG organisers, and break out rooms may be used. The sessions will not be recorded but the MSIG organisers will write a blog to reflect on the key points of the session without identifying any individual contributors or attendees, unless permission is expressly given. See last year’s blogs here.

The session duration is 60 minutes, with no break. Attendees are welcome to join and leave as they need to. Here’s how to join a Zoom meeting.
