Design Lab
Time & Location
Jun 24, 2026, 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM EDT
Overview
Design Lab is a live coaching and design consulting session.
In each session, Erica Marx works with a guest on an event, workshop, retreat, or stakeholder process they are designing. The session is livestreamed and recorded so others can observe the process as it unfolds and revisit it later.
People who attend live join a smaller backstage conversation before and after the livestream. This is where facilitators, trainers, consultants, and leaders connect with each other, reflect on the design choices they observed, ask questions, and apply insights to their own work.
Some people come primarily to observe the coaching session. Others come for the backstage conversation and the opportunity to think alongside other people designing meaningful group experiences.

Design Challenge
Nina and Sebnem from Cornell's Global Hubs initiative are planning a 2-day virtual network meeting for leaders and colleagues from 20 partner universities around the world. The event has been moved online, and they need it to work across time zones, mix async and sync content, and leave 200 people feeling inspired to collaborate on concrete next steps.
