Neurodivergents Unite June 2026
Overall purpose:
To provide a safe space free of judgement where neurodivergents from all backgrounds can gather together, have insightful discussions, share ideas, and connect. It's also free!
Who is this for?
This group is primarily aimed at those who are diagnosed with or suspect that they have a neurodivergent condition. These include autism, ADHD, dyslexia, among others.
Duration: 2.5 hours
The event is divided into three rounds:
Round 1: Ice-Breaker Dialogue
Attendees will answer card prompts. If time permits, they can answer them all, and go their own direction in the discussion. These prompts are mostly light in tone.
Round 2: Picnic and Learn
Basically like lunch and learn at workplaces, but less formal. You can pick a topic that you are passionate about or believe you are an expert in, and then play the role of a teacher to break down at least the basics for those unfamiliar with it. If you'd rather just listen instead of "teaching", that's fine too.
Round 3: Deeper Discussions
Like Round 1, this round involves being in groups and answering prompt questions. However, the questions are more serious in nature, and are mainly related to aspects of life as a neurodivergent, positive, negative, or neutral.
End:
A closing discussion and upcoming announcements.
Breaks and sensory accommodations: If needed, we can take breaks lasting around 5-10 minutes in between rounds to give people time to decompress and loosen up before the next round.
People are encouraged to excuse themselves as needed during a round to take a sensory break. Also, fidget/stim toys are encouraged if they help. We want everyone to feel comfortable and safe. Of course, if you need to leave the event early for any reason, that is completely understandable.
