From Giving to Catalysing: Hong Kong’s Next Chapter in Impact Capital
Hong Kong has a strong philanthropic tradition, an active civil society, a sophisticated financial sector and growing interest in family office philanthropy, ESG, social innovation and impact investment. At the same time, many social-purpose organisations continue to face fragmented support, short funding cycles and limited access to flexible resources for growth and sustainability.
This event will explore how philanthropy and capital can move beyond traditional giving to play a more catalytic role in strengthening social impact ecosystems.
The discussion will draw on Singapore’s experience as a practical reference point. TSIC’s recent work with The Majurity Trust on Singapore’s impact-first capital landscape examined gaps, opportunities and leverage points in mobilising impact-first capital and supporting impact enterprises. The purpose of this event is not to suggest that Hong Kong should copy Singapore, but to consider what may be relevant, adaptable or cautionary for Hong Kong.
The main session will include a short sharing of selected insights from the Singapore study, followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A. The conversation will explore catalytic philanthropy, impact-first capital, intermediary support, organisational readiness, and the kinds of capital and capacity support social-purpose organisations need to grow sustainably.
A networking reception will follow the main session, providing a more informal space for participants to meet the speakers and connect with peers across philanthropy, family offices, corporate foundations, impact capital, NGOs, social enterprises and intermediary organisations.
