Join Kate Spencer and Liam Tan in Perth for International Generalist Day - a global celebration happening simultaneously across cities worldwide on September 3rd, 2025.
This year we have events across 30+ countries and 80+ locations!
Kate and Liam are hosting evening drinks with conversation starters designed to spark meaningful connections and celebrate the unique squiggly paths of fellow generalists. Expect a relaxed social vibe perfect for networking, making new friends, and enjoying fun icebreakers in a welcoming atmosphere.
What is a generalist? Professionals who apply their skills across multiple domains, connect disparate ideas, or serve as "translators" between different teams and disciplines. If you've ever felt your career doesn't fit in a single box, this celebration is for you.

Your co-host Kate is an innovative problem-solver with a career spanning startups, entrepreneurship, and cross-sector collaboration, building business capability in founders while connecting them with industry and government stakeholders. Her favorite part about being a generalist? "It's the ability to connect dots others might not see, adapt to new challenges, and thrive in a variety of environments."
As Kate shares: "I'm most excited about creating a space where fellow generalists can come together, connect, and celebrate their unique paths. Hosting this event gives me the chance to spark meaningful conversations, witness new friendships forming, and see the magic of a community that truly 'gets' each other."
Liam is an engineer, consultant and business owner, who also happens to bake intricate cakes and design wedding stationery. His favourite part about being a generalist is always having the skills and knowledge to share with those in need.
In Liam's words, "I'm thrilled to open up opportunities for fellow generalists to meet, share their stories and find a sense of belonging with people that understand them deeply. Discovering the Generalist World community has been a turning point for me and I hope to help others on their own squiggly journeys."
