Tierra y Copa — Five Wines of Spain
Forget the Spain you think you know. This isn't a night of easy Riojas and predictable Albariño — it's five wines that show how strange, precise, and quietly ambitious Spanish winemaking has become.
We'll taste our way from a bone-dry Cava made by a third-generation family estate in Penedès, through a textured high-altitude white from a nearly forgotten grape in Castilla y León, into three very different reds: an elegant, low-intervention Garnacha from 80-year-old vines in Sierra de Gredos, a rare 668-bottle field blend co-created with François Chartier from pre-phylloxera vines, and a Galician red made from grapes almost nobody grows anymore — Castañal, Caíño Tinto, Sousón — from a valley best known for white wine.
Each pour comes with the story behind it: the growers, the terroir, the choices that make these bottles different from what usually lands on a "Spanish wine" list.
