Open Doors: Community Builders Lunch
Running a night, a club or a gathering in Saskatoon and hitting a wall? Join Van Gonzales over lunch for the launch of Open Doors, a free program for young people building community projects who keep running into the same four gaps: resources, relationships, space and funding.
Van walks through how each gap gets closed in practice, drawing on experience with All Flowers Mahjong, and shares what the Open Doors mentorship involves. Over ten weeks of online sessions from October to December, a cohort of 12 to 20 young people will plan and run their own free public Lunar New Year activation in Saskatoon at the end of January 2027. Registration for the cohort opens at the lunch.
Lunch is provided and everyone is welcome. It's home-cooked and ready upstairs from 11 am, so help yourself. The cohort itself is for people aged 18 to 29, especially anyone already running something small.
Hosted by Van Gonzales with Riversdale Chinatown and The 525 at 122 21st Street East, on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis. Step-free entry. Photos may be taken at this event, so let our team know at check-in if you'd rather not be photographed.
