Angel Investing Fundamentals Masterclass Series: Angel Investing Basics
Start here. This opening session lays the groundwork for angel investing: how the venture ecosystem works, the stages of startup funding, and the main investment vehicles you'll encounter — SAFEs, convertible notes, and priced rounds. You'll begin building an investment framework of your own and get fluent in the core terminology every angel needs, including burn rate, runway, pro rata, and more.
This is one of four sessions in the Angel Investing Fundamentals Masterclass Series, taught by De'Havia Stewart. Each session is built to stand on its own, so you're welcome to join for just this one — or register for all four and take the full series.
Two ways to attend: Cohort: learn together, explore investing together
Join a community of accredited investors interested in learning, finding startup opportunities, and evaluating companies alongside peers—with the potential to invest alongside one another.
Choose the Cohort if you plan to attend all four sessions, actively participate in group discussions, and collaborate with others on sourcing and evaluating opportunities.
Cohort participants should be prepared to consider investing at least $5,000 in total over the next three months, subject to finding suitable opportunities and making their own investment decisions. This is an expression of readiness, not a pledge. Participation does not guarantee investment opportunities or require an investment.
Audit: learn session by session
For accredited investors who want the course content without the full-series or collaborative group commitment. Attend individual sessions or the full series. The Cohort’s investment-readiness threshold does not apply to Audit participants.
Both tracks are intended exclusively for accredited investors.
Who this is for: This session is intended for accredited investors. Investing in startups is high risk, and you should be prepared for the possibility of losing your entire investment. Under current SEC guidelines, you generally qualify as an accredited investor if you meet at least one of the following:
Earned income over $200,000 individually (or $300,000 with a spouse or spousal equivalent) in each of the past two years, with the same expected this year;
A net worth over $1 million, alone or together with a spouse or spousal equivalent, excluding the value of your primary residence; or
Hold a Series 7, Series 65, or Series 82 license in good standing.
