Funding the Frontier - ARIA x PopVax
ARIA is the UK's moonshot research funding agency. We build £50M funding programmes enabling entire research ecosystems to reach for the edge of the possible.
We are hosting an intimate dinner with a select group to uncover what new areas we should fund. Over the course of the evening, we will design potential new programmes in collaboration with attendees and reveal some of our early thinking on new directions to get feedback.

Over the evening, we will both hear and present pitches on new programme areas that:
Lead to a 100X change.
Connect ideas that haven't been linked before.
Have little proof of concept in existing scientific literature but are physically plausible.
No prep is required besides having an answer to the above: it will be chalk-talk style.
The goal is to bring together a room of people who care about bold futures and who might be up for closing it.
We're looking for novel, frontier, audacious ideas.

Food, mingling, and a room full of ambitious technology ideas.
ARIA will give a short spotlight on what they do and how people can get involved.
A tour of the PopVax R&D facility developing first-in-the-world and best-in-class mRNA vaccines against infectious diseases like TB, HPV, COVID-19, as well as precision cancer immunotherapies against hard-to-treat solid tumours like liver cancer and pancreatic cancer.
We’ll then introduce the chalk-talk format, before the room votes on which technologies to discuss to smaller groups.
There will be time throughout for follow-on discussions, meeting others, and exploring ideas that might be worth taking further.

PopVax is an Indian full-stack biotechnology company fighting infectious disease and cancer using machine learning-driven design and relentless empiricism. We’ve built an end-to-end platform to rapidly advance generative medicines from concept to clinic: a machine learning feedback loop for AI-powered protein design, a novel mRNA architecture for immunogen display, our own ionizable lipids and formulations for lipid nanoparticle delivery, and in-house fast-turnaround GMP production.
