About Event

Housing for people, not profit.

Did you know? Around the world, homes are being used as places to make money and not places to live. In Europe, approximately 1 in 5 homes stands empty. What is it like in Cape Town?

We know that in Cape Town rents are going up, people are being pushed out and the likelihood of finding a well-located affordable places to live is becoming increasingly difficult, forcing people to spend more than they can afford on a basic human need.

Please join us for the public launch of a new study on the financialisation of housing in Cape Town.

We'll break down:

  • What's happening and why

  • Who is being affected

  • What we can do about it

We want to know what you think.
