Digital assets and tokenised finance are reshaping how assets are owned, transferred, and settled. As part of FinTech Scotland Festival, this free two-hour taster session gives you a practical, accessible introduction to the core ideas - no technical background required.

This session draws on the Centre's full CPD course and gives you a flavour of the content, teaching style, and real-world relevance.
What we'll cover
In two hours you'll get a grounded introduction to tokenisation and digital assets - what it is, why it matters, and how it works in practice. We'll cover the mechanics of how real-world assets are represented on distributed ledgers, how digital wallets and custody infrastructure underpin ownership and transfer, and the landscape of DLT platforms from public blockchains to permissioned enterprise ledgers. We'll look at real use cases - tokenised deposits, real-world asset tokens, and NFTs - before turning to where the market is heading with stablecoins, CBDCs, and programmable money. The session includes a live demonstration.
