About Event

Deflection is one of the most common defensive behaviors when trying to have a conversation about improving a relationship (whether personal, romantic, or professional). People try to make distance and avoid accountability or discomfort in many creative ways.

The first step to figuring out how to create understanding in a conversation is recognizing what gets in the way.

Join us for a casual practice session where we'll look at examples and get really good at figuring out exactly what's being thrown at us. Bring screenshots or share a conversation you experienced, if you want to examine a specific example.

Hosted by: Alissa Ballestrin
I’ve been people improve their communication and conflict navigation skills for over 10 years, focusing on the moments where conversations break down, and people aren’t sure what to do next.

I don’t believe there’s one “right” way to communicate. We’re all different, and I'm dedicated to helping people navigate those differences in the most constructive way for the individuals involved. That includes building the skills to handle disagreement, give and receive feedback, and stay engaged in conversations that feel uncomfortable.
