Tackling methane emissions is not only one of the fastest ways in the near term to slow the rate of climate change, but it also bolsters energy security and ensures competitive advantages in global markets. At an unprecedented time of methane data transparency for the energy sector, a growing ecosystem of methane data initiatives is delivering more accessible global data on methane super-emitters — a highly actionable slice of the methane challenge.
Satellite-based methane data is equipping governments and the private sector with the information they need to find and fix methane super-emitters — offering a fast, cost-effective way to address a major source of global warming. However, even with growing access to this data, action to find and fix super-emitters is still a challenge for operators and governments around the world.
