About Event

A joint panel between the Fairness Foundation & the Joseph Rowntree Foundation

Wealth is shaping our lives more than ever, and the growing gap between those who have it and those who don’t is fuelling political fragmentation and volatility. Our economy has become increasingly dominated by a small number of people extracting wealth, leaving more and more people behind.

How should Labour respond? In this session, we explore the problem of wealth inequality and ask what a genuine wealth-building programme would look like, one that spreads prosperity fairly, strengthens communities and works for people across the country?

This panel brings together leading voices to challenge received wisdom and set out a bolder agenda.

Speakers:

  • Rt Hon Liam Byrne MP

  • Will Hutton: political economist, author and columnist

  • Will Snell: Chief Executive, Fairness Foundation

  • Sarah Kerr: Policy & Narratives Consultant, Joseph Rowntree Foundation; Hallsworth Research Fellow, University of Manchester
