The book blends memoir, community wisdom, and eight powerful awarenesses that support individuals in shifting unwanted habits—whether alcohol, overworking, perfectionism, or everyday digital distraction. What began as a 30-day break from drinking evolved into a years-long journey of inquiry into what she calls “dimming”—the ways we unconsciously numb ourselves—and the path back to clarity, agency, and presence.
In addition to her writing, Cecily is a founding General Partner at Wisdom Ventures ($90M AUM and growing), a purpose-driven investment fund backing companies at the intersection of technology and human flourishing. She brings more than two decades of experience as a tech executive, startup advisor, and attorney to her work, having helped scale companies across music, publishing, mindfulness, blockchain, and well-being. She’s also a founding limited partner of How Women Invest and serves on several boards.
Her personal path is shaped by lived experience: she is a mother of two, a breast cancer survivor, and the daughter of a mother who struggled with alcoholism. These threads inform her deep commitment to offering compassionate, accessible paths to healing and transformation.
